Movie Screening-Saint John of Las Vegas

One of the selling points of New York for me was that I would be able to attend movie screenings.  I remember being in high school reading my Entertainment Weekly and there would be an ad for preview screenings. (Always in the big cities of course.) I remember thinking that it would be SO COOL to be able to go to those. I also remember thinking that if they would only show them in St Louis or Kansas City, I would drive the 4 or 5 hours just to go.

What is especially great is when you get to see a movie that is actually really good. Tonight I got to see Saint John of Las Vegas directed by first time writer/director Hue Rhodes.

  1. Hey Melissa!

We are coming to NYC this weekend (4 couples from Dallas) and I was wondering if there are any movies currently being shot in town or any movie screenings between the dates of 2/12 and 2/16/10.

You sound like you know what’s going on at all times there so I thought I would ask!

    Thanks,
    Dawn

For filming locations, it’s tough to know ahead of time, but if you check http://www.onlocationvacations.com/category/daily-filming-locations/ the day before, they should have tips for you. I’ll keep a close eye out when I’m walking around the next week in case I see something. You can also follow them on twitter.

As far as movie screenings, that’s tough. I’m signed up for lots of sites and I only get them every once in a while. If you are a movie fan, there are classic movies that show in independent theaters. Last week Total Recall and Blazing Saddles were in the theater. This week at IFC Center it’s Basic Instinct. The Dark Crystal is at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.

Hope you have a great time and please contact me if you have any other questions!
